The Future of AI – Here’s How Artificial Intelligence Will Impact Our Jobs
From cracking jokes and preparing a travel plan to organizing a spreadsheet table and writing code, the capabilities of AI chatbots have left people in awe. These generative AI models, like Bing Chat and ChatGPT, seem to be capable of doing everything. Almost every job that humans do today can be accomplished by AI, and that, too, both quickly and freely.
As such, this has created a wave of dreadful anticipation among employed workers who fear their jobs being taken over by artificial intelligence in the near future.
But is it really true? Will artificial intelligence take our jobs? Statistically speaking, what are the chances of AI replacing humans?
To answer this question, IBM conducted research and surveyed 3000 C-level executives across 28 countries and another 21,000 workers in 22 nations. The purpose of this was to analyze how the rise of AI is impacting company business models and how these companies are leveraging AI in their day-to-day operations.
As seen above, the survey results strongly indicate that artificial intelligence has firmly integrated itself with businesses and is all set to cause a shift in the workforce. But is it for the good or the worst?
Fortunately, the complete survey results also showed that the change is not for the worse. In a nutshell, AI is not going to take away peoples’ jobs, but rather it will augment them.
As per the IBM Report, 40% of the 4 billion human labor workforce will have to “reskill” in the near future to adapt to the rapid developments in the AI sector.
According to the aforementioned survey conducted by IBM executives, tech workers who successfully reskill to adapt "technology-driven job changes report a revenue growth rate premium of 15% on average," and those tech workers who focus on AI "see a 36% higher revenue growth rate than their peers."
So, thus far, one thing has been made clear to us, and that is to start leveraging artificial intelligence in our daily lives if we wish to keep pace with technological advancements and keep our jobs.
While AI will not replace you and take over your role if you don’t use it, it will definitely replace you in the near future with another human worker who uses it.
And this brings us to our very next question. Why?
Topping the charts with a score of 42%, it turns out that time management and the ability to prioritize is the most sought-after skill in 2023 and beyond. Humans are easily distracted, and this distracted mind is the root cause of many “I failed to deliver on time” and “Can I get an extension on this project?”
Coming to the rescue, this is where artificial intelligence comes into the picture. When used correctly, AI enables us to stay organized and prioritize objectives better than when left to self-management alone.
If anything, artificial intelligence will only improve your job if you know how to leverage its potential. What do you think?
