With our guidance, you'll be back to enjoying your favorite games and experiences without any interruptions. So, let's dive into the world of Roblox troubleshooting and bring stability to your gaming adventures!
Adjust the Roblox Graphics Settings
Crashes and freezing issues are often caused by low system performance. Launch a Roblox game and navigate to your in-game settings. Change the first options to your liking. Below, set the Graphics Mode to Manual. This will enable you to change the Graphics Quality setting below manually. Reduce the Graphics Quality option to a minimum. If you have some performance to spare, you can set it to one or two ticks higher. Below, enable the Performance Stats option to preview your RAM usage, CPU and GPU utilization, and network-related stats, such as your ping. These will help you troubleshoot where the issues are coming from.
Update Graphics Card Driver
Close your Roblox Player for the next steps. These will fix crashing and game freeze problems when having network-related issues and low performance-related problems. Ensure your graphics card driver is up to date. We suggest using the GeForce Experience application for an NVIDIA GPU, but you can also use the AMD driver suite. In the Drivers tab, click Download, and the application will automatically download and install the latest driver. Repeat this step a few times a year to ensure you get the most out of your hardware.
Disable GeForce Experience Overlay
When navigating to your GeForce settings, disable the In-Game Overlay in your General settings tab, as application overlays often cause performance issues.
Windows Operating System Update
Search for Update in your start menu search to get to your Windows Update Settings. Check for recent Updates, and if there is an update available to you, download it before restarting your PC, which will install the update for you.
End CPU-Intensive Processes on your PC
Open up your Task Manager by searching for it in your start menu search. To reduce the CPU utilization from other programs, we suggest you end some programs from running in the background, which you don't need when playing Roblox. But make sure only to end programs from running, which you know won't break your operating system. In the Startup tab, you can prevent programs from starting on system boot.
Change DNS Server Addresses
Change your DNS server address in case the problem is caused by your network connection. Open your Control Panel by searching for it in your start menu search. Make sure to View by: Category, and click on Network and Internet.
Click on Network and Sharing Center, and select your connection. This will open up a new window, containing some general information about your connection. Navigate to the properties, and lastly, double-click the Internet Protocol Version 4. Select to Use the following DNS server addresses option, and as your Preferred DNS server, use: 8.8.8.8, and as your Alternate DNS server, use: 8.8.4.4 This will fix Roblox freeze and crashing issues, as these are the official public DNS server addresses from Google, which are safe to use.
Update Network Adapter
We suggest updating your Network Adapter’s driver to further troubleshoot network-related problems. To do so, search for Device Manager in your start menu search to open it up. Expand your Network Adapters, right-click the one you are using, and select Update Driver. Finally, click on Search automatically for drivers. This will take a second to download and install the latest Network Adapter driver.
Adjust the Roblox Compatibility Settings
Compatibility issues between the Roblox app and your Windows PC can cause crashing or freezing issues with the game. Search for Roblox in your start menu and select “Open File Location” for the Roblox Player app.
Your file explorer will open up. Right-click the Roblox application and select “Properties”.
In the compatibility section of your Roblox Player Properties, check the “Disable Fullscreen Optimizations” option. Under Compatibility mode, enable the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” option, and set this option to “Windows 7”. Don’t forget to apply your changes, and then you can launch Roblox on your Windows PC.
Reinstall Roblox
As a last resort, you must reinstall Roblox to your system if some of your game files are missing or corrupted. Open up your Control Panel. Make sure to View by: Category, and under Programs select Uninstall a program. In this list, select any application and start typing Roblox to find your Roblox Player application. Right-click the app and select Uninstall. This will take a few seconds to uninstall Roblox, and the next time you select to play a Roblox game, your browser will ask you to redownload and reinstall the Roblox Player app to your system.
Switch Browser & Disable Browser Extensions
If you feel like the Roblox crash problem is caused by your browser, then make sure to use a different browser, such as Microsoft Edge to see if the Roblox experience is still crashing. If the problem is resolved by switching web browsers, then head back to your main browser, in this example Google Chrome. Right-click the extension's icon and select “Manage Extensions”.
On this window, proceed to disable all browser extensions one by one to see which one could be causing the crash on startup problem.
Clear Cache and Site Data for Roblox.com
You may also want to clear your browser cache and cookies for the Roblox.com domain. Click on the menu icon on the top right to access your settings. Under “Privacy and Security” navigate to “Cookies and other site data”.
Scroll down and select “See all site data and permissions”. From here, search for Roblox.com and proceed to delete all saved cookies for the domain before trying to launch a Roblox experience again.
