However, don't worry; there are several ways to fix the black screen issue and get back to playing your favorite game. In this article, we'll guide you through the process of troubleshooting and fixing the black screen problem in Rainbow Six Siege. Whether you're a novice or an experienced player, this article will provide you with the necessary steps to resolve the issue and get back to action.

Adjust the Rainbox Six Siege Game Config

Open up your file explorer. Navigate to: Documents > My Games > Rainbow Six Siege, and open the folder to access your game settings file. Open up the file with a text editor like notepad, and here, make sure to set the Window Mode value to 2. This will ensure that the game will start in windowed mode, bypassing crashes caused by an abnormal native resolution. Don’t forget to save the changes to this file.

Update Graphics Card Driver

Make sure that your graphics driver is up to date. We suggest using the GeForce Experience application for an NVIDIA GPU, but you can also use the AMD driver suite. This tweak can make the biggest difference depending on how frequently you update your GPU. In the Drivers tab, click on Download, and the application will automatically download and install the latest driver

GeForce Experience > Drivers > Download

Windows Operating System Update

Search for Update to open up your Check for updates system settings window. Click on Check for updates, and after downloading the latest OS update, restart your PC.

Uninstall Unused 3rd-Party Apps

If you still experience startup or black screen issues, then you most likely have software running on your system, hindering you from playing the game. To fix this, we suggest uninstalling recently installed programs that can change your files or using up your available resources, such as OBS, Shadowplay, CCleaner, or Adobe applications, to troubleshoot which program is causing the black screen.

Control Panel > Uninstall a Program

End Background Processes

Sometimes, even your firewall or antivirus application can negatively impact the game’s performance. Open up your Task Manager by right-clicking your taskbar and selecting it. In the Processes tab, make sure to stop programs from running that you don’t need while playing the game, which could trigger startup problems.
