Elden Ring - Controller Not Working / Recognized Fix
Elden Ring, the highly anticipated action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, has captured the attention of gamers worldwide. With its unique blend of open-world exploration and challenging combat, it's no surprise that players are eager to dive into this new adventure. However, like any new game release, players may encounter technical difficulties. One of the most frustrating issues for players is when their controller is not recognized by the game, preventing them from enjoying the gameplay experience fully. In this article, we will provide you with some effective solutions to the Elden Ring controller not working/recognized issue.
Verify the Elden Ring Game Files
Prevent Elden Ring from running and open up your Steam library. Right-click Elden Ring and select Properties.
In the Local Files tab, select Verify integrity of game files. This will take a minute to redownload and replace any missing or corrupted game files.
Adjust the Steam Controller Settings
Navigate to your Steam settings. Click on Steam on the top left and then select Settings.
In the Controller tab, click on General Controller Settings.
A new window will open up. Make sure to add the Xbox Configuration Support and Generic Gamepad Configuration Support from here.
Disable Steam Overlay
Back in your Steam settings, navigate to the In-Game tab and uncheck the Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game option, and click on Ok.
To ensure that your controller is working and being recognized by Elden Ring, unplug it from your PC and only plug it back in when Elden Ring starts up on your PC.
