Rocket League - How To Fix Stuck On Loading Screen

If you're an avid Rocket League player, you know how frustrating it can be when you're stuck on the loading screen. Whether you're trying to join a match, start a new game, or navigate the menus, getting stuck on the loading screen can put a damper on your gaming experience. But fear not, there are a few simple fixes you can try to get past this issue and get back to playing your favorite game.

In this article, we'll cover some of the most effective ways to fix the "stuck on loading screen" problem in Rocket League. From clearing your cache to updating your drivers, we'll provide you with step-by-step instructions on troubleshooting this issue and returning to enjoying Rocket League.

Verify the Rocket League Game Files

Ensure your files are complete and up to date. Close Rocket League from running and open up your Epic Games launcher. In your Library, click on the burger menu for Rocket League and select Verify. Redownloading and reinstalling missing or corrupted game files will take a minute.

Adjust the Rocket League Compatibility Options

If the error persists, open up your File Explorer and navigate to the drive on which you saved the game. Under Program Files > RocketLeague > Binaries > Win64 right-click the Rocket League application to get to its properties. In the Compatibility tab, run the program in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and disable fullscreen optimizations. Don’t forget to apply your changes.

Allow Rocket League to Bypass your Firewall

Your firewall or antivirus application could also prevent you from properly playing Rocket League by blocking parts of the software. Search for Firewall in your taskbar search to open up your Firewall & Network Protection system settings window. Select to Allow an app through firewall.

Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an app through Firewall

Select to Change settings, and then allow another app. Select Browse, and your file explorer will open up. Navigate to the drive on which you saved the game on, Program files > Rocket League > binaries > Win64, and select the RocketLeauge application and select Open. This will allow you to exclude the application from being blocked by your firewall and will for some users prevent the issue.

Program files > Rocket League > binaries > Win64

End Resource-Intensive Processes

You should also prevent certain applications from running when trying to launch Rocket League, as these could change your game files or trigger a crash on startup. Open up your Task Manager, and in your Processes tab, end the processes from running, which could show an overlay, such as Steam, Origin, your browser running in the background, or Discord. You should also prevent applications that could change your game files in any way, such as CCleaner, and programs that could use up your available RAM and VRAM, such as Adobe applications.

Task Manager > Processes > End Task

Update Graphics Card Driver

Ensure your graphics driver and operating system is up to date. I suggest using the GeForce Experience application for an NVIDIA GPU, but you can also use the AMD driver suite. Depending on how frequently you update your GPU, this tweak can make the biggest difference. In the Drivers tab, click Download, and the application will automatically download and install the latest driver.

GeForce Experience > Drivers > Download

Update Windows Operating System

Search for Update to open up your Check for updates system settings window. Click on Check for updates, and after downloading the latest OS update, restart your PC. Restart your PC in order for your changes to take effect.
