Windows 11 - How to Fix VPN Not Working

If you're experiencing VPN connectivity issues on your Windows 11 computer, you're not alone. VPN connection errors can be frustrating, especially if you rely on them for secure and private browsing. Fortunately, you can try several troubleshooting methods to fix VPN connection problems on Windows 11. In this article, we'll guide you through the steps to resolve VPN issues and restore your connection to optimal performance.

Uninstall Network Adapter Driver in the Device Manager

To get started, open up your start menu and search for Device Manager to open it up. In your Device Manager, look for Network adapters and expand them to preview all your network adapters. From the expanded options of Network adapters, look for three options, namely, WAN Miniport (IP), WAN Miniport (IPv6), and WAN Miniport (PPTP). Right-click on any one of these options and select Uninstall device. Next, do this for all three options.

Create a New Desktop Shortcut

Once done, go to the Action tab at the top of this window and click on Scan for hardware changes.  This will reinstall your network adapters after restarting your PC and can in a lot of cases, help you out with your VPN connection. However, if this doesn’t work for you, try another method. Right-click anywhere on your desktop and select Show more options. Select New > Shortcut. The Create Shortcut dialogue box will appear. Type the item's location, which is C:\Windows\System32\rasphone.exe, and click on Next. Select a name for this shortcut according to your choice, and click Finish.
